The following screenshots display questions from a form questionnaire that were sent by representatives from a variety of extreme interests to all NC General Assembly members.
It came with this note:
“Dear Representative, Happy New Year! We, Christian Perspective Representatives, Moms for Liberty North Carolina, and Pavement Education Project, sincerely hope this email finds you doing well. Thank you for your public service to the citizens of North Carolina. Our organizations represent 15,000 plus citizens, and we are passing along a collective outreach to gauge support on several important issues related to minors and public school education. We would greatly appreciate your feedback. Please tell us if you will support the items in the survey below. We thank you for your time and pray that you will continue to represent the people and protect our Constitution and fundamental parental rights.
Respectfully,
Pavement Education Project, Moms for Liberty, North Carolina Christian Perspective Representatives.”

The survey’s leading questions and yes/no answers are nothing more than “gotcha” tactics. The “Refuse to Answer” option is just an attempt at a guilt trip.
And the focus on the Parents’ Bill of Rights signals a desperate hold on an aspect of the culture wars that is fading away waiting for the next red herring topic to scapegoat public schools to arise in this election year.
The use of ambiguous definitions and a clear lack of understanding of what parents already have access to in this age of technology are nothing more than ignorance that encases these questions.
Look at the entities who have signed on to this questionnaire: Pavement Education Project, Moms for Liberty, North Carolina Christian Perspective Representatives.
The Pavement Education Project states on its website:

Thank God they are exposing books that are already on my syllabus or have been approved by the school system. They even have a link to the books they think are best for students.

That says a lot. Must not read much.
Under their “Parent Resources” tab, they offer some professional guidance aligned organizations. One is this:

Focus On The Family is one of the most vocal anti-LGBTQ organizations in the country.
Moms For Liberty is no stranger to the national stage, but it is a much weakened one, one that is eeking to keep relevance.

North Carolina Christian Perspective Representatives is the state chapter of C.P. R. – a group with a biblical view of life and how schools should run.

Please remember that North Carolina is already home to the least transparent voucher scheme in the entire country and that over 90% of vouchers go to religiously affiliated schools – schools that do not have regulations on curriculum and nothing really to enforce open admission standards. In fact, in most cases, it is hard to even measure how well voucher students do academically compared to public schools which are already highly regulated and very transparent. From the Children’s Law Clinic at Duke’s School of Law:

And yet here is a questionnaire that is talking about we as a state should regulate public schools more.
Culture wars at their best and the use of public schools as scapegoats. Funny how all of these groups seem to conveniently ignore that students get so much more bombardment of their “values” from social media.
