When I think of Michele Morrow’s promise to make schools the safest buildings in the state, I am reminded of all that she actually has fought to remove from schools.

Guns are not one of them.

She has fought to remove books. She has fought to exclude marginalized people.

It brought to mind this recent political cartoon that appeared today in wake of the Apalachee High School massacre in Winder, Georgia today.

I went to high school with students from Winder. I coached against the rival high school in that town during my time in Georgia.

My son attends a high school now that had a shooting that took a student’s life less than three years ago.

How many places have you worked in that has had an actual shooting occur where an innocent person was killed or injured?

As a veteran teacher, Michele Morrow makes me feel less safe in a school not because of what she claims she will do, but because of what she has said and condoned.

The same person who claims to want “law and order”…

…is the same person who has advocated for extreme violence.
