99.95% – A Mark Robinson Math Word Problem

Maybe this will at some time become a topic in a civics class years from now.

Or a personal finance class.

Or an introductory class in law school.

Or it could become a word problem about how to solve for percentages.

99.95%.

50 Million to $25K.

That lawsuit supposedly filed by Mark Robinson in a defamation suit against CNN and a porn shop employee for $50 million?

It’s going to its first hearing a couple of weeks after the gubernatorial election.

There’s also another twist.

An amended filing was submitted on Monday that reduced that total to $25,000.

That’s a reduction of about 99.95% of the original amount sought in punitive damages.

Ironically, that is about the same percentage drop of the likelihood that Robinson will become governor of North Carolina.

If he was so sure that he was a victim of defamation, then he should have upped the amount he was seeking. Because $25K will not pay for the back taxes or what is owed back to the state concerning that nonprofit.
