Dear WSFCS, If You Do This To Our Custodians Then It Will Weaken Schools

If you have never really been inside the workings of a public schools, know that so many people work behind the scenes to help educate our students. If they were not doing what they do, then schools would never be as effective.

  • Teacher Assistants
  • Testing Coordinators
  • Administrative Assistants
  • Guidance Counselors
  • Media Assistants
  • Interpreters
  • Therapists – speech, occupational, physical
  • Data Control and Clerks
  • Maintenance
  • Bus Drivers and Transportation
  • Food Services
  • Crossing Guards
  • Nurses

And then there are our custodial staff members who make sure that schools are clean and safe for all students.

But as what is becoming a running theme for our school board here in Winston-Salem / Forsyth County Schools, there is another round of “cuts” to be voted upon soon.

And it involves our custodians.

When custodians are treated as part of the school family and actually under the umbrella of state/local employment, that investment is paid back in multitudes. Schools are cleaner, safer, and custodial staffs are more stable.
