Dear WSFCS (And All NC School Systems), You’re Losing…

…teachers.

Simply put – you are losing teachers.

Veterans who will retire early and go someplace else.

Beginning teachers who do not see any advantage in staying after the first couple of years.

Potential teachers currently in high school and college who are deciding to maybe pursue another career path.

What is wrong with schools cannot be solved with vouchers and other supposed reforms. It deals with respect and compensating teachers fairly for a job that continues to expand in its nebulous expectations.

This is just one metric:

Just one. And it does not tell the entire story.

If any school system in North Carolina (especially WSFCS) wants to at least retain and recruit a proven group of teachers to put into the public schools, it will have to really take action.

People need to vote for pro-public education in 2026.

Supermajorities need to be broken.

Phil Berger must go.

Anita Earls must be reelected. And others put on the State Supreme Court who will honor LEANDRO.

Graduate degree pay needs to be reinstated.

Due process rights need to be given to all educators.

Longevity pay needs to be given back – with back pay.

AND THAT’S JUST A START.
