From 2015:

We, as educators have always believed that those in the legislature, whether state or national believe in our impact. We, are the educators, meaning I have the education to know and do what helps our children to succeed, however, we continue to elect those who belong to a “group” and not ones with the skills, intellect or wherewithal to know what or how to make education for all paramount. Therefore, I ask each of us, “Why do we allow them to stay?” One, because teachers have never worked collaboratively in the school buildings, nor in the legislature. Why, because those at the top of the pecking order continue to be satisfied as long as their pockets are fed and are full, and they are not in the trenches making things happen. So, people such as Phil Berger, Rouzer and the NC Supreme Court officials don’t have to do anything. Did you all know that for over at least 100 years, we have never fought for “having the ability to strike in NC”? Oh, but we have been happy, and we have kept supporting NCAE, and NEA! Well, it is not working, has never work, and in the future I don’t see any change. I commend Durham for walking out and getting changes, but we are afraid. Well, let’s keep the likes of Berger, Rouzer and the NCAE and NEA, and get what you have always gotten. “NOTHING”! This is a new day, so let’s teachers wake up, get up and move our votes in the areas that we know will make a difference. So, I am calling us all to GALVANIZE from MANTEO TO MURPHY! I hope we will move soon, or it may be too late now.
