My Post along with Altered State (NC Policy Watch) on Washington Post’s The Answer Sheet

My post concerning how the NC General Assembly has “dismantled” public education in NC was placed on “The Answer Sheet”, run by Valerie Strauss, The Washington Post‘s education reporter. Also included was a bit from Altered States written by the amazing Lindsay Wagner when she was with NC Policy Watch. Currently she is writing for the A.J. Fletcher Foundation. Simply put, she does outstanding work.

Take a look if you can.

  1. Reblogged this on Mirymom's Blog and commented:
I’m a North Carolina teacher, too. Have been for a decade now (I have taught in 3 other states as well). It’s my first non-union state and that’s been quite an eye-opener and heart-breaker. Kudos to you for your thoughtful analysis and willingness to fight. Our future is worth the fight.

  2. I recently moved here to be near my grandchildren. I have found the state of their education appalling. Now, I understand why that is the case. As I wrote when I placed the Post’s article on my blog, “The children we educate today, will be running the country tomorrow. Will they be prepared?” Thank you for your article.
