This Is True Learning Loss

In her November 22nd, 2020 interview with Fox News, State Supt. Catherine Truitt was quoted as telling the producers of the segment that “between March and September students lost on average 50% in literacy and 70% for math.”

She was talking about “learning loss” due to the pandemic.

That’s a fairly bold claim considering that almost half of the time between March and September of 2020 was a summer break.

And there was a virus going around that at the time had no vaccine and would go on to kill over 800,000 Americans.

But this is the real learning loss:

Not from a virus.

From one adult.
