Multiple calendar flexibility bills have been filed in the past several years to allow schools in North Carolina to open their doors earlier in August so fall semesters end before the winter break and get exams finished before students leave for a couple of weeks.

One such bill actually passed the NC House chamber with overwhelmingly strong support.

But it won’t get a vote in the NC Senate where one man’s ego stands in the way.

The ego of one selfish man who has more power over public schools than anyone else in this state will disregard the wishes of most every representative for what is best for students.

Because he is a bought man drunk on power.
